EASY BBQ INSTANT POT RIBS RECIPE

This super easy recipe for BBQ Instant Pot Ribs produces the most tender fall-off-the-bone texture in α lot less time than the slow cooker would. Included is α delicious dry rub for ribs recipe. It can be made with any cut of pork ribs you prefer or have on hand thanks to cooking time instructions for baby back ribs, St. Louis style ribs, and spare ribs.

TIPS FOR MAKING THIS INSTANT POT RIBS RECIPE:

  • To remove the membrane from the back of the ribs, use α butter knife to loosen it from the bones first. Then grab α hold of it with paper towel and pull the membrane all the way off
  • Pat dry the rack of ribs with paper towel before applying the dry rub. ‘Whatever sticks’ is α good rule of thumb for the amount of rib seasoning to use.
  • If you have the time, I highly recommend letting the ribs marinate in the dry rub for at least 1/2 hour. Overnight is even better if you have the foresight
  • Use 1 or 2 racks at once. I am afraid that if you use more, it might change the cooking time or the Instant Pot barbecue ribs would be overcrowded and won’t cook through properly
  • Use α trivet in the Instant Pot to elevate the ribs from the water in the bottom. Otherwise you end up with partially boiled ribs at the bottom
  • Let the pressure release naturally (NPR) all the way.
  • Only then paint on the BBQ sauce and bake the pressure cooker pork ribs or place them on the grill. This will caramelize the sauce, give the ribs some charred crispy edges and really take them to the next level!

  • ~ 1/4 cup BBQ sauce per rack
  • Rib Dry Rub
  • 3 tbsp coconut sugar or muscovado sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • In α small bowl whisk together all ingredients of the rib dry rub.

  • With paper towel pat dry the rack of ribs from both sides and liberally apply the dry rub seasoning and spread it out with your hands. If you have the time, let the ribs marinate in the dry rub anywhere from 1/2 hour to overnight.
  • When you are ready to pressure cook the ribs, place 1 cup of water to the bottom of the Instant Pot. Insert α trivet and arrange the 1-2 racks of ribs on top of it.
